Plaza de las Tres Culturas, Mexico City, Spring 2005

This was a neat section of the city where one could see the three cultures that have shaped Mexican society: the old Aztec pyramids, the colonial Catholic cathedral, and the megalopolis housing block in the background. Interestingly, this was the site of the final major battle between Cortez and the Aztecs. The plaza also was where hundreds of student demonstrators were massacred by government troops in 1968. Quite a place!

This was a large park a few blocks away from our apartment in Mexico City. Though it didn't have any grass (does anywhere in Mexico have grass?!!), it was a great place to hang out with our neighbors.
